Abstract

The need for storage racking equipment is prompted directly by the search for operational and economic efficiency in companies with a logistics business orientation. The application of racking systems in logistics requires equipment manufacturers and users to meet high standards of quality and safety, which are directly determined by the design, production and assembly processes of the equipment and, above all, by its maintenance during its life span. The proliferation of logistics technologies involving the use of storage equipment, manufactured from perforated thin-walled cold-rolled profiles requires high safety standards to be sustained for the equipment throughout its life cycle.

Introduced in 2010, the set of five harmonised standards valid within the EU includes the PN-EN 15635 standard, which, from a systemic perspective, treats all issues related to the issues related to high safety and performance standards for the operating equipment. The above-mentioned standard introduces a person responsible for the safe operation of racking equipment into the existing legal system under the name PRSES and defines this person's obligations.
